Fantabulous Fashion Friday Finds
If you follow me on instagram, you know I have been beefing up an island wardrobe for a trip to Barbados I have coming up. Well that isn’t all I have been working on when it comes to wardrobe. I have also been working on my church wardrobe, because you also know from following my instastories, I have outgrown everything in my closet. The logical thing would be to lose weight, and I am working on that sorta. What I mean by that is, I am exercising and I am eating decent, but I not stressing over it and I need something to wear in the meantime. I thought I would take a minute to show you what I have bought or have on order so far. These dresses are all classic Lady Benton. Although I will say, my style is having to change somewhat over 40. If I was a workout feen, it wouldn’t. But I am not, so it might have to. I will say that fashion over 40 on a budget is much harder than fashion on a budget in your 20s. Maybe its because we value quality more, but in my case its because I can't shop the sale rack much because I am not a size 6. You notice that's what's always left, is those itty bitty sizes?
But how do they pay for it all?
I also want to address the obvious but something I never see talked about in blog world. Granted, blog world is kind of this fantasy land where we all dream and wish upon a star and live vicariously through others. But the reality is, stuff costs money and money doesn’t grow on trees as they say. Now a lot of these bloggers who are really successful are actually getting the stuff as a perk to advertise for the brands. That’s great and I am so glad for them. That ain’t happening over here and it may not ever happen. I may continue to have all 10 of you reading my blog and that’s fine, I enjoy blogging, so I’ll keep it up as long as I enjoy it. But I want to say as delicately as possible, that I don’t want you to feel down on yourself if you have a budget and you see all of these people out here seemingly livin’ it up. I, you might be surprised to find out, was doing the “Dave Ramsey thing” before he even became Dave Ramsey. Meaning, Mr. Benton and I ascribed to the theory when we were young that we were going to live like paupers, so that we could live a good life later. We scrimped and saved in our 20s and early 30s, we did without “stuff” so our future would be better. We, and I say we, I mean God and us, built a business from the ground up. We couldn’t have done it by ourselves and still can’t. He allows our very existence so I have to give credit that He helped us tremendously. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. So if you are in that place where you are just barely scraping by, know this, you can work toward a better future. Live within your means, stay focused, work hard. You’ll thank yourself for it later.
Ok enough preaching! Let’s get to the fashion
First up is this Tadashi Shoji dress:
Another brand, that knows how to flatter a not so toothpick figure is Teri Jon. Both of these brands are not cheap, but if you shop places like TJ Maxx or Neiman Marcus Last Call, you can pick them up for much less.
I hope y'all have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend. My brother is coming in this weekend and bringing my darling 4 month old nephew, so I am looking forward to that! Thanks for stopping by! Oh and I'll be trying these dresses on in my Instastories on Instagram probably next week so be sure and tune in! If you don't follow me on Instagram, there's a lot of fun that happens over there!
Until Next Time,
