Coco, Zsa Zsa or Mae West?
Last time we chatted, you found out all about how I came to be known as Lady Benton. What I didn’t tell you, is this was at the height of Downton Abbey. Actually it was before it caught on like wildfire, and let me tell you I was completely engrossed. I loved Downton Abbey before they messed it up, meaning before Matthew left, and boy do I sure miss that show! I feel as if I should have been born during that time... but only if I could’ve been upper class. I wouldn’t do so well if I had to be a servant and only got one afternoon off a week!
This is me at High Clere Castle.
That was a trip of a lifetime and one I will definitely tell y’all about sometime. Mama Hogg, was a travel agent back then and she planned it for my husband as a surprise for me. At some point, y’all will definitely be meeting Mama Hogg. She is a true treasure for sure. But I digress. I absolutely adore Covenant Farms, the way Scarlet O’Hara adored Tara. It is in my blood and God willing, neither I, nor my descendants will never ever have to leave it until the King of kings and Lord of lords returns to rule the earth. And oh praise be, what a glorious day that will be! However, if I couldn’t live here, I’d live in jolly ole England... or Tennessee. There’s just something about grass blowing on a gently rolling hill that gets me every time. Add a castle and some sheep and I just get all weak in the knees. Since y’all met Mr. Benton last time, I thought I’d tell you a little more about myself. And since we are liable to talk about fashion quite a bit on this blog, I wanted to give you a sense of my style.
I am the heroine in my own life
As you can see, I love to play with style and like Ralph Lauren says, I love to play like I am the heroine in my own life. To me, what I put on is a reflection of what I feel on the inside. And while I will be the first to admit, that a person’s character is far more important than how they look, I don’t see why we can’t have a little fun along the way! Some days I feel like Coco, some days I am the lady in a caftan with a mimosa by the pool, and some days I have on a good pair of cowboy boots and a flannel shirt. But it’s all me--except for the lady in the apron--and her, I could do without. Though from time to time, I may share a recipe or two, if and only if, it is utterly fantastic.
Speaking of aprons, there is not a day that goes by that this boy right here doesn’t ask me, “What’s for supper?”
He is my heart and soul and I tell him if God had given me the pick of all the children on the earth, I would choose him a million times over and I mean it. Just like his daddy, he has a heart of gold and is genuinely one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He doesn’t even have to try to be nice, he just is. He is also funny and witty beyond belief. I am taking applications now for my future daughter-in-law. There’s only one catch, you must love and I mean really, really, really love his mother! He is the one that gave me the courage to try blogging. And when you have the belief or your children, you really have everything. Don’t you agree?
Next time, I am going to show you around Covenant Farms. I hope you’ll love her as much as do. Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time,
